EAC NEWSLETTER - 02/04/10

PRACTICE CHANGES FOR NEXT WEEK:

On the February Calendar, Saturday 2/6 practice is listed as two practices. We only have ONE practice at the normal time: Novice 10:45-11:30, Jrs: 11:30-12:30 and Sr: 12:30-2:00. Since snow is in the forecast for Friday and Saturday this weekend, please check the website for cancellations. If we do have practice, please your own good judgment in traveling to practice.

CALENDAR CHANGE:

On the February calendar, practice for Saturday 2/20 was incorrectly listed. Practice for that Saturday is normal Saturday practice time. The time change should be made to the calendar soon.

CPAL SWIM MEET VS FALCONS:

On Saturday February 13th we will swim our last dual meet of the season. If your swimmer would like to request an event to swim or will not be swimming at the meet, please let Coach Ken know in writing or by e-mail by Wednesday February 10th.

DIVISIONALS AND ALL STARS:

Divisional information was placed into folders this week. 8&U and 10&U will be competing in the morning and the rest of the age groups in the early afternoon. All swimmers are eligible to swim at divisionals, as long as they have competed in 3 CPAL dual meets this season. Divisionals will be held at Cedar Crest High School. The All Star Meet is held the following day. The top 16 times in each individual event and the 8 top relays from the 5 divisional meets, qualify to swim at All Stars. All Stars are being held this year at Cumberland Valley High School.

Several parents have asked about if it was important or necessary for their swimmer to swim at divisionals. Coach Ken would like to have as many swimmers from EAC as possible. Divisionals is the last CPAL meet for the swimmers to compete in and it's what we work for all season. Even though some swimmers do not make it to All Stars, most will have their best time of the season at that meet! The Meet is not like some of the summer swim meets that last all day. The age groups are divided into 2 sessions, AM and PM. So it's not such a long day for the younger swimmers. Coach Ken tries to put as many swimmers in relays as possible. Often swimmers don't make an individual event but make it to All Stars in a relay. And the last reason for having your swimmer attend divisionals, is that if we win our last meet at Falcons we will win the division. This means that at the meet they will present our team with our championship banner, and the team goes on deck to receive this at both sessions.

DIVISIONAL T-SHIRTS:

You may pre-order t-shirts for the Divisional meet. There is an Order Form and Information posted on the board. If you would like to buy a shirt, please write t-shirt or long sleeve shirt, size, Adult or Child, and qty on an envelope with a check made out to FSC for the amount owed. Please give to Coach Ken by February 8th

ALL STAR T-SHIRTS:

You may also pre-order t-shirts for the All Star meet. There is an Order Form and Information posted on the board. If you would like to buy a shirt, please write t-shirt or long sleeve shirt, size, adult or child and qty on an envelope with a check made out to EAC for the amount owed. Please give to Coach Ken by Friday February 12th.

INJURED SWIMMERS:

We have several of our Senior swimmers that have been struggling with injuries this winter and we allow them to come to practice to kick. The Kicking workout is not for swimmers who just aren't feeling well that night. If your swimmer is feeling sick, please keep them at home to rest.

NOTE FROM THE READINGERS:

Dear parents,

Thanks to all of you for showing your concern about our Austin'swim bag. We are grateful to say that it was returned by a friend who accidently mistakened it for his. Other than a stinky towel, the bag and all contents are fine. We appreciate the way all of us look out for each other's children and care so much for the team. Chris and DeeDee Readinger

Have a great week and Good Luck to all Swimmers this weekend!
